The luxurious 5-star hotel Splendid Conference & Spa Resort is set directly on a long sandy beach in Becici, only 4 km from Budva's Old Town.

True Montenegrin hospitality from genuinely welcoming and professional staff, who are full of local recommendations. Out front, there are free-form pools with hot tubs, cascades, showers, wooden bridges and palms, and on the beach you have jet-ski and para-sailing available. The kids' club (open all year) covers ages three to 12, with multilingual staff organising activities.

The spectacular two-floor Splendid Spa has several sea-view indoor pools, three types of sauna (including a bio-sauna using wild herbs and pine needles), experience showers (including a snow-fall shower) and a gym. Face and body beauty treatments (Elemis, Christian Breton and Haslauer) are available – try the much-requested anti-stress full-body therapeutic massage.

Extensive conference facilities include Montenegro's largest convention room (800 people). There's a 24-hour casino and a helicopter landing pad on the roof.

There are three restaurants. La Bussola is vast and rather impersonal (seating 500), but does an excellent buffet, including roast meats, grilled fish and colourful salads, best accompanied by a bottle of local Vranac red wine.

In a pavilion on the seafront, Promenada serves Japanese and Chinese Sichuan specialities, while Terazza sul Mare (summer-only) serves seafood on a third-floor terrace. There are four bars, including the 24-hr Lobby Bar, doing drinks and snacks with magnificent views down onto the bay, and the Ensenada Beach Bar (summer-only) on the sand.
